Body temperature screening solutions. It’s fairly certain to say that life will change radically from now on and things we used to take for granted will be replaced by new norms. Body temperature screening is a solution to help get things moving again.

Body temperature screening WILL

Estimate your body surface temperature (usually within 0.3C – 05C).

It WILL NOT

Diagnose an illness,

Detect a virus

Give you an accurate diagnosis of fever.

Categories of solutions

Crowd based cameras which screen a crowd and identify people with a raised temperature

Similar cameras which operate on a one-to-one basis

Cameras with temperature screening linked to access control

Simple body temperature monitoring devices

Cameras with with temperature screening linked to access control is the only solution that log’s the users temperature. The other options do not have registered users and rely on a manual process of identifying people with a raised temperature in order to instigate any planned protocols for proper fever diagnosis.

Crowd based cameras and cameras which operate on a one-to-one basis are only suitable for indoor use. Cameras with temperature linked to access control and simple body temperature monitoring devices can operate in ambient air and we have outdoor solutions available for both both of these options.

At All Right Now we are properly evaluating options so we can advise you on the most appropriate solution for your requirements. All Right Now have designed a cost-effective, comprehensive solution to suit all budgets. With between 5% and 30% of revenue being lost to customers not paying for one reason or another, All Right Now’s GymSecure service provides an effective deterrent and means to identify those who are trying to abuse the system.

Wireless Push Buttons

It is becoming more common these days in Gym foyers to have a Meet & Greet type area rather than the traditional reception desk. If you have turnstiles, it is behind the reception desk that things like the push buttons to manually open the turnstiles are located. Also, leisure centres are expanding their offering and often have a softplay area with security gates. These areas can be some distance away from the point of sale for tickets. So where do you locate the push buttons? The answer is very simple: wireless remote push buttons. Take a look at our video below.

[/fullwidth_text] [spb_column width=”2/3″ el_position=”first”] [spb_text_block pb_margin_bottom=”no” pb_border_bottom=”no” width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]

Advantages

They are easy to fit

They do not require long cable runs back to a fixed point

They can be configured to work with up to 200 fobs per unit

They can be set to open the gate either once or to fix it open (for example for deliveries)

They are less easily accessed by members of the public trying to evade the access control

If you factor in the cost of running cables the costs compare favourably with manual buttons

Disadvantages

The fobs can be mislaid

The fobs are relatively expensive to replace if lost although no more so than fixing a faulty push button

These buttons can usually be retrofitted to existing installations as well. Please contact us or call 01295 660 566 for further information.

Smart QR code solution

Smart QR code solution – We recently upgraded the failing access control system at Change Hove in Brighton something they have been planning to do for some time but after finally biting the bullet this is their reaction. “I am super happy to finally have our new system installed.”

The solution involved replacing a cheap fingerprint solution with a smart QR code solution using single use, secure code on a smartphone. They can also use their eGym MiFareRFID wristbands as an alternative means of entry if they wish. Contact us on 01295 660 566 or use the form below if you would like further information on our access control solutions and how we might be able to help optimise your club entrance procedures.

This Months Topics –

Turnstile Service Contracts

Guildhall Hull

Bluetooth (BLE) Reader

Turnstile Service Contracts

After consulting with our customers, we are pleased to announce that we are now offering a service contract as an alternative to our maintenance contract. You can now choose from a full maintenance contract that includes all parts and labour next day seven days a week or an annual or bi-annual service contract. When you cover your equipment with a service or maintenance contract you will be significantly extending the life cycle of your turnstiles. In addition, if the turnstiles are under more than a 1 year warranty, such as IDL and Automatic Systems, not servicing your turnstiles in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions will invalidate the warranty. Please call for more information on +44 (0) 1295 660566 or read more by clicking here.

Guildhall Hull

This project entailed installing turnstiles in a busy public building. It was quite a challenging environment being also in a listed building where the client was very particular about the look of the installation. The turnstiles were installed on floor protectors to save drilling into the listed floor and a gate was also installed for reception staff to provide them with some additional security. One of the lanes has a push button remote control to enable it to be placed in emergency egress mode should for example a person needs to be taken out on a stretcher. For more information view our video by clicking here.

Bluetooth (BLE) Reader

We have been looking for a while now for a Bluetooth reader that works and we finally have one. The beauty of Bluetooth is that almost all phones have it and the signal range is further than standard RFID cards. This means you don’t need to take your phone out of your pocket or bag to activate the reader as long as the app is open on your phone. Just like an RFID card it offers good security but unlike a card there are no costs for the credential as the app is free. The app uses the phone’s unique IMEI number to create its own unique 16 digit number and it is this number which is stored in the leisure management software. Please call for further information on +44 (0)1295 660566.

Fingerprint Readers

A reliable and cost-effective biometric solution has long been the Holy Grail for general acceptance and usage of biometrics in access control applications. Apple has led the way with fingerprint ID on phones but this is a relatively simple application in that there is only one fingerprint to compare against. When looking at commercial business applications, for example in leisure facilities, there are often 1000’s of unique fingerprints in the database. It is a much more complex and arduous task to find a match consequently. Given the complexity of what fingerprint readers are trying to achieve it is a huge step forward but there are big differences in reliability and pricing depending on the make and model you use. You should know that between 2 and 4% of the population don’t have a readable fingerprint. This might be due to age or your work meaning that your fingerprints are non-existent or faint. Clearly they don’t work through gloves of any kind and moisture or dirt on the hand can make it difficult or impossible to read. Finally, there is a hygiene issue.

When looking at which make and model to opt for it is well worth spending time considering the pros and cons of each option. We know of many of our clients who have dispensed with their fingerprint readers as the customer experience wasn’t great. Sometimes the readers just don’t read reliably enough or the response times are slow. Customers also need to know for example that their finger needs to rest on the reader for long enough for it to read the fingerprint. It’s not like a contactless card.

For all of the above reasons, at All Right Now we have standardised on the IEVOTm fingerprint readers. They are the market leader for a good reason. They are more expensive but compared to the cost of a poor customer experience and having to replace them we believe it is a price worth paying. As we often say the most expensive project is one that doesn’t work. Matched against the ongoing savings on credentials we believe that this makes the IEVOTm reader a viable option if you are looking for a biometric solution. Please call our offices on 01295-660566 or email us at enquiries@allrightnow.co.uk.
